AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment

All types and descriptions were dearer this week. Competition for the fewer bales that were on offer at this time of the season was strong. Better specification Italian types were keenly sought after, especially any lots below 15.0 micron. They are attracting very keen interest for a strong luxury market that is least impacted by the global cost of living issues. The selection is extremely varied and consists of an extreme range of qualities. This is helping the market too. Supply and demand are cautiously balanced in favour of the seller. We see little chance of the market easing in the short term.

Forecast

No sale in Fremantle next week and only 28,000 bales available nationally. This should ensure that the current trend continues for next week. Premiums are now returning for certified wool types. Those growers who have committed to a quality assurance program, like RWS, Authentico or Sustainawool (NM) would now be seeing some value.
