AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Despite Europe being relatively quiet at the moment we are still seeing good potential in the high quality certified arena sub 15 micron and standard Euro types 17/18/19 micron this week.The Authentico index values remain very stable. All other micron categories traded evenly this week with general support from all sectors. The stronger currency at the beginning of the week sparked some interest and the market reacted accordingly in a positive manner, completely the opposite to what exporters were expecting. Chinese domestic market seemed to be improved this week as consumers start to emerge after a long covid cautionary period. China export however has slowed. Shearing seems to be ahead of schedule and growers taking the opportunity to sell immediately rather than play the waiting game. This should enhance the market as we are not building any stockpile of wool held in store. New seasons wool are rolling in and we are seeing some very well prepared wool clips to satisfy current demand.

Forecast
The next few weeks offerings are relatively stable around 40/45,000 bales which is sufficient to meet the current demand. If the currency remains stable then the market will follow suit, however any upward movement will surely see a short term rally, especially from Chinese processors. European market remains very slow at the moment as they approach then end of financial year.
