AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT
Comment
The was not a lot of movement in the market this week. Overall, just a slight softening of prices, on average. The better European specification types were again selling better than the standard Chinese types. The exception being those wools carrying more VM, they are still in better demand for Chinse mills. For this reason, the Sydney market performed a little better than Melbourne. The Sydney offering consisted of some very good quality types with lower CVH and higher strength compared to the Melbourne offering which was larger but containing volume of longer staple length wools. The certified New Zealand selection again sold well in Melbourne with the focus on the broader RWS wools of 18.5 and coarser. More so than the finer wools which were in good supply.

Forecast
Only 35,000 bales rostered again for next week. Growers who can hold their wool financially, are not convinced to sell at the moment. Some are forced to as a result of rising costs and no clear picture that market circumstances will improve in the coming weeks.
