Summary

Market softens.

Comment

South Island offering 5,730 bales and North Island offering 8,900 bales.

Selection consisted of 34% crossbred fleece mainly average/poor colour, 75/150mm, 22% crossbred second shears good/average colour, 50/100mm, 30% lambs fleece mainly good colour, 12% associated oddments average/poor colour and 2% miscellaneous types.

Main competition for good colour is still the United Kingdom and Europe and the sub continent continuing to show good support. China supporting the poorer colour fleece and shears.  Continued pressure from the local & Australasian carpet mills across all styles.

Fleece

Good colour crossbred fleece up to 2% cheaper.

Average/poor colour crossbred fleece buyers favour.

Shears

Good colour crossbred shears up to 2% cheaper.

Average/poor colour crossbred shears buyers favour.

Lambs

Good colour lambs 2.5% cheaper.

Oddments

Crossbred oddments all descriptions generally 1% cheaper.
