Summary

Good colour wools dearer, remainder slightly easier.

Comment

South Island only offering 6,135 bales.

Selection consisted of 37% crossbred fleece mainly average/poor colour, 75/150mm, 20% crossbred second shears good/average colour, 50/100mm, 22% lambs fleece good/average colour, 16% associated oddments average/poor colour and 5% miscellaneous types.

Main competition for good colour was the United Kingdom and Europe with good support from the subcontinent. China supporting the poorer colour fleece and shears.  Continued pressure from the local & Australasian carpet mills.

Good colour crossbred fleece up to 2% dearer.

Average/poor colour crossbred fleece up to 2% cheaper.

Shears

Good colour crossbred shears up to 2% dearer.

Average/poor colour crossbred shears up to 2% cheaper.

Lambs

Good colour lambs firm to buyers favour.

Oddments

Crossbred oddments all descriptions generally up to 2% cheaper.
